Meet the team
Kate Russell
Chief Operating Officer, Tellus Natural Capital
Kate is an Agricultural Valuer, Chartered Surveyor and Chartered Environmentalist with 30 years’ experience in rural land and property management. She spent 13 years as a Technical and Policy Adviser at the Central Association of Agricultural Valuers (CAAV), briefing professionals across the UK and governments in policy development, resulting in an extensive network of contacts among professional advisers in the rural sector. In 2021 Kate established her own natural capital consultancy business (Tellus Natural Capital) and advises on natural capital and emerging markets for ecosystem services. Her current projects include: advising private estates in the Cotswolds and the Midlands on natural capital opportunities; advising an Exmoor estate on nature restoration and sustainability; supporting the Environment Agency with its Thames Valley Flood Scheme, including stakeholder engagement with farmers and landowners; and establishing a new farm cluster in Cumbria with funding from the Farming in Protected Landscapes fund.
Laura Dean
Principal Consultant, Accelar
Laura is a principal consultant contributing and project managing several of Accelar’s green finance projects, including Norfolk-based Landscape Recovery and Natural Environment Investment Readiness Fund projects. Laura is a curious and accomplished impact consultant with a diverse consultancy background across environmental and social initiatives, along with experience in financial services and impact investment. Laura has a proven track record of project managing multi-stakeholder sustainability-focussed collaborations with leaders from some of the world’s largest organisations.
Rupert Oscroft
Sustainability Analyst, Accelar
With experience in strategic analysis, project management, and engineering, Rupert has developed a keen interest in the identification and delivery of tangible insights for stakeholders, from field to board room level. He has developed bespoke financial models for multiple Landscape Recovery projects, as well as for other nature finance feasibility studies, to provide critical insights into the potential scenarios available to land managers. Rupert uses his multifaceted background to help critically assess datasets and identify customised solutions to complex problems faced by a wide breadth of industries during the green transition.
