Accelar gains a new Sustainability Intern to bolster BNG Finder’s Efforts

Our newest addition to the team, Ned Morris, recently started with Accelar as a Sustainability Intern for a nine month period. Hear from Ned on his experience, interests, and where those fit in with our ongoing work surrounding biodiversity net gain.

"I’m thrilled to be joining Accelar as a Sustainability Intern for the next nine months! I will be working with the company alongside my studies at the University of Bristol, where I am currently a fourth-year undergraduate pursuing a BSc in Geography.

Much of my academic background focuses on sustainability and the environment. I am currently writing a dissertation that emphasises the need to foreground environmental ethics in discussions surrounding environmental policy and sustainable development. Previously, I worked as a sustainability advisor to Magdalen College, University of Oxford, where I helped implement systems to better monitor the College’s carbon impact, supporting their progress towards net zero.

Since the introduction of Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG) laws earlier this year, the demand for green finance solutions has grown significantly. Given the urgency of the climate crisis, understanding how to leverage private sector investments to drive better environmental outcomes has never been more important. BNG laws have opened an exciting new space where the private sector can play a pivotal role in enhancing climate resilience. Being part of this emerging area is an enormous privilege. Over the coming nine months, I’ll be working on optimising Accelar’s BNG Finder service, along with a variety of other green finance initiatives, to help deliver sustainable outcomes for stakeholders and clients."
