News: Accelar attends Sustainability West Midlands Annual Conference
Last week, Accelar colleague Clare Ollerenshaw attended the Sustainability West Midlands (SWM) Annual Conference: Our Changing West Midlands. With over 120 attendees from more than 90 different organisations, the event took place in the living heritage site of the Black Country Living Museum, focusing on sharing current information on the changing climate of the West Midlands and the need for approaches to net zero to consider adaptation and nature-based solutions.
There was a focus on a changing climate, considering the role of nature as a solution for adaptation and mitigation, and encouraging participants to come together to discuss innovative ideas to manage the climate crises through group workshops led by the Warwickshire and the Birmingham and Black Country Wildlife Trust .
Clare found the day really useful and as usual the networking was great giving the opportunity to make new connections and test out new ideas with peers.
Accelar has been involved with SWM as a member for the past few years something that we really value as a business, especially for the new connections it brings. We’ve also delivered work with alongside SWM for the West Midlands Combined Authority on analysing climate risks and resilience opportunities. SWM now have around 175 organisations representing the interests of the region and supporting their latest ‘Roadmap to 2030’, outlining sustainability measures for this decade.
