Accelar shortlisted for Sustainable Scale-Up Award by Enterprise Nation
Accelar is pleased to share that the business has successfully been shortlisted as a nominee for the Sustainable Scale-Up Award by Enterprise Nation as part of their Sustainable Small Business Awards. The Sustainable Scale-Up category recognises growing businesses that have been running for longer than 18 months and made significant environmental, social and economic changes in an effort to achieve a sustainable future.
As a climate change and environmental orientated business established in 2019, we are fortunate enough to have the capability to grow our business sustainably, taking time to ensure that our business model is informed by sustainable practices. Over the past three years, Accelar has played a crucial role helping businesses and public sector clients address their most pressing sustainability issues. As an SME, our guidance, consulting services and digital analytics have far-reaching impacts across the value and supply chain, affecting stakeholders’ perceptions and approaches to sustainability. We have engaged with more than 30 clients so far on their net zero journey, and worked with key transport providers to advocate for climate resilient infrastructure. Crucially, our services provide benefits both on a local and national scale. It is important to us to act as an example, hopefully inspiring others to make the transition to a sustainable business approach.
This has certainly come with its own challenges, particularly in light of Covid-19 and the associated disruptions. Shifts in socioeconomic activity as a result of events such as the pandemic and increased digitalisation have disrupted workplaces and industries across the world, creating knock-on impacts for sustainability progress. We have experienced this first-hand at Accelar, due to the homeworking nature of our business operations. Accelar has come up with some innovative approaches to monitor sustainability as a business, such as creating a holistic carbon emissions baseline which uses tracking techniques.
Our standalone efforts have helped us on our way to achieving a sustainable business model and we have also strived to make our actions go even further through collaboration. Accelar is a proud member of the Forest Carbon Club, which allows us to address our climate impact through purchasing carbon credits to offset our emissions using UK woodland reforestation, planting 70 new trees on our behalf in 2021. Accelar is also a CO2nstructZero business champion, supporting net zero initiatives within the construction industry. Alongside this, we have joined as a founding signatory the Get Nature Positive initiative so we can continue to get to know and improve our impact on the natural environment.
